Travelling to Halifax

Halifax can be reached either by

  • Air: Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ) is Halifax' closest airport, located at 30mins drive from the downtown area. Taxi's can be expensive (~70$, 30mins to downtown), but public transport has a more equitable pricing system (4.25$, 60mins to downtown) payable with traditional transactions only (coins, there is no electronic ticket system available)
  • Rail: Adventure yourself to Canada's (one but) most eastbound Via Rail station, just a walk away from the downtown core.
  • Road: All roads lead to Halifax, including Highway 102. You can enjoy this road within the confinements of your own vehicle, or entrust your travel arrangements into the hands of the Maritime Travel bus system.
  • Water: Why not arrive in Nova Scotia via one of it's most striking features?

Getting around Halifax

We are not aware of a no-go theorem to navigate Halifax on foot or by public transport. A map of the downtown core can be found here, and more information on public transportation can be found at halifax.ca/transit
